President Bola Ahmed Tinubu met with the newly appointed Service Chiefs and the Chief of Defence Intelligence at the Presidential Villa, Aso Rock, Abuja, on Monday, marking their first official briefing since assuming office.
The closed-door meeting, which lasted several hours, centred on Nigeria’s evolving security architecture and the administration’s renewed push to consolidate gains in the fight against insurgency, banditry, and other emerging threats.
In attendance were the Chief of Defence Staff, Lieutenant General Olufemi Oluyede; Chief of Army Staff, Major General W. Shaibu; Chief of Naval Staff, Rear Admiral I. Abbas; Chief of Air Staff, Air Vice Marshal S.K. Aneke; and Chief of Defence Intelligence, Major General E.A.P. Undiendeye.
Addressing the new military hierarchy, President Tinubu charged them to display utmost professionalism, discipline, and inter-service collaboration in their operations. He emphasised that unity of purpose and intelligence-driven coordination were vital to restoring public confidence in Nigeria’s security institutions.
The President reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to strengthening the Armed Forces through strategic reforms, improved welfare, and the deployment of cutting-edge technology to enhance operational effectiveness.
According to sources at the meeting, the interaction also explored new strategies for joint operations, intelligence sharing, and the protection of critical national assets.
The engagement signalled President Tinubu’s intent to recalibrate the nation’s security leadership and align it with his administration’s overarching vision of peace, stability, and sustainable development across the country.
