President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has extended warm greetings to Muslims across Nigeria and around the world as they celebrate Eid-el-Kabir, also known as the Festival of Sacrifice.
In his Sallah message, the President thanked Almighty God for preserving the lives of Nigerians to witness another Eid celebration and called on citizens to embrace the values of sacrifice, compassion, unity and selflessness exemplified by Prophet Ibrahim.
According to President Tinubu, Eid-el-Kabir remains a powerful reminder of faith, obedience and total devotion to God, noting that Prophet Ibrahim’s willingness to sacrifice his son, Ismail, represents the highest level of duty and submission to Allah.
The President said the sacred celebration should inspire Nigerians, regardless of religion, ethnicity or background, to show mercy, kindness and compassion to one another.
Speaking on the state of the nation, Tinubu said Nigeria is currently undergoing a period of reconstruction and renewal through reforms introduced by his administration.
He acknowledged that the reforms have been difficult but described them as necessary steps toward building a stronger and more prosperous country for future generations.
President Tinubu expressed optimism that the sacrifices made by Nigerians and the efforts of his administration over the past three years are already yielding positive results, including a more stable economy and improved investor confidence capable of driving job creation and economic growth.
“The walk through the dark tunnel is over, and the light is here,” the President stated.
On security, Tinubu assured Nigerians that his administration remains committed to defeating terrorism, banditry and other criminal activities threatening parts of the country.
While commending the efforts of security and intelligence agencies, including the recent elimination of a wanted ISIS leader, the President admitted that some communities still face attacks from terrorists and bandits.
He, however, assured affected citizens that they have not been abandoned or forgotten, stressing that the government would continue to confront and defeat all forces of evil.
The President urged Muslim faithful to use the Eid celebration to pray for peace, national unity and wisdom for leaders at all levels.
He also called on Nigerians to pray for those involved in criminal activities to repent and abandon their evil ways or face the full weight of the law.
Tinubu further encouraged citizens to remember the less privileged during the festive season by sharing with neighbours and extending acts of kindness to those in need.
Reaffirming his administration’s commitment to national development, the President said the government would continue investing in security, infrastructure, agriculture and human capital development to improve the lives of Nigerians.
He added that his administration remains focused on building a country where citizens can live peacefully, worship freely and pursue their dreams without fear.
President Tinubu concluded by wishing Muslims and all Nigerians a peaceful, joyous and blessed Eid-el-Kabir celebration.
“May Allah accept our sacrifices and prayers, and may He continue to bless the Federal Republic of Nigeria. Eid Mubarak and Happy Sallah,” he said.
