…..Warns APC May Implode
The political temperature in Ekiti State soared on Sunday as All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship aspirant, Kayode Ojo, launched a blistering attack on Governor Biodun Oyebanji, accusing him of desperation and dictatorial tendencies ahead of the party’s October 27, 2025 primaries.
Ojo, speaking through the Chairman of his Consultative Forum, Olukayode Oluyemo, condemned Oyebanji’s alleged directive warning APC local government and ward chairmen not to grant audience to other aspirants.
Blasting the governor, Ojo declared:
“This threat is ludicrous, vexatious and a clear sign of desperation. Governor Oyebanji wants to turn APC into his private fiefdom and family inheritance, but Ekiti people will resist it.”
The APC hopeful insisted that Oyebanji’s utterances violated both the party’s constitution and the Nigerian constitution, stressing that members were free to associate with any aspirant.
“We are calling on the APC national leadership in Abuja to caution him before he destroys the party in Ekiti,” Ojo warned.
Oluyemo further alleged that Ojo’s supporters were facing harassment, arrests, and intimidation from state forces, accusing Oyebanji of orchestrating a clampdown on internal opposition.
He called on President Bola Tinubu and the APC national executives to intervene, saying the primaries must not be turned into a “do-or-die affair.”
“We are not opposition members; we are APC loyalists with a preferred aspirant. The problem is that the government feels no one else should contest. But Ekiti people know better,” Oluyemo said.
The group vowed to storm the APC National Secretariat in Abuja on Monday to officially pick Ojo’s nomination and expression of interest forms, backed by funds raised by friends and supporters.
In a dramatic rallying cry, Oluyemo urged party members across the 16 LGAs of the state to “remain steadfast, fearless and unshakably loyal as the day of liberation draws near.”
With tension rising, observers say the battle for APC’s 2026 ticket in Ekiti is fast shaping up into a showdown between Oyebanji’s incumbency power and Ojo’s defiant grassroots mobilisation.
