The former Sokoto State Governor and Senator representing Sokoto South, Aminu Tambuwal, has declared his intention to unseat the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2027 general elections under the African Democratic Congress (ADC).

Tambuwal, who arrived Sokoto on Friday to a massive reception from supporters across Sokoto, Kebbi, and Zamfara states, accused President Bola Tinubu’s administration of worsening Nigeria’s economic hardship, insecurity, and political instability.

He urged Nigerians to unite and mobilise for the removal of the APC in 2027, pledging that the ADC and its allies would work nationwide to achieve the goal.

“My message is simple: we must join forces to send APC packing in 2027. We will not be intimidated, we will not be silenced, and we will not allow the suffering of Nigerians to continue unchecked,” he said.

Political analysts described the crowd that welcomed him as a strategic show of strength ahead of the elections. The event drew party loyalists, women’s groups, and youth organisations, filling the streets with chants and banners.

Tambuwal also addressed his recent appearance before the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), saying it was voluntary and dismissing allegations that he withdrew over ₦2 billion monthly from the Sokoto State Government account as “blatant lies.”

He questioned the basis of the allegations, noting that the state’s monthly allocation from the Federal Government was far less than the claimed amount.

Senator Aliyu Wadada, representing Nasarawa West Senatorial District on the platform of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), on Tuesday indicated he may return to the All Progressives Congress (APC), declaring himself “APC in principle” despite not having formally defected.

Speaking to State House correspondents after a closed-door meeting with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in Abuja, Wadada dismissed the chances of opposition parties in the 2027 presidential election, insisting that no candidate could defeat the incumbent.

He described the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) as one of the “ingredients” used to form the APC and said he had yet to see anyone in the African Democratic Congress (ADC) coalition capable of outperforming President Tinubu.

“Between now and 2031, anybody can say what they wish to say, but the space is already taken, occupied by President Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu,” Wadada said.

The senator cited major infrastructural projects, including the Sokoto–Badagry and Abuja–Kano roads and developments in the Federal Capital Territory, as evidence of the administration’s performance. He also thanked the president for honouring him during his recent turbaning as Maga Jindengi of Lafia.

Wadada recalled his political history, noting that he was a member of the APC before its formal creation, served as the PDP’s national financial secretary, and joined the SDP due to “circumstantial” reasons rather than grievances.

While expressing continued pride in the SDP, he said recent developments may not warrant his continued stay in the party. “I could even say that I am APC, though I have not officially moved,” he stated.

On the tax reform bills, Wadada defended the new law, stressing that it exempts individuals earning less than ₦800,000 annually from personal income tax and will boost state revenues in the wake of subsidy removal. He urged media, politicians, and citizens to uphold accuracy and accountability in national discourse.

Former Minister of Transportation, Chibuike Amaechi, has thrown down the gauntlet to President Bola Tinubu, vowing to defeat him in the 2027 presidential election — but only if he clinches the African Democratic Congress (ADC) ticket.

In a fiery session on X Spaces Saturday, Amaechi declared that he knows Tinubu “inside out” — both his strengths and his weaknesses — and would “surely crush him” at the polls.

“I’ve never faced Tinubu in an election. I know him very well. I know his strengths. I know his weaknesses. And if given the ADC flag, I will defeat him for sure,” he boasted.

The former Rivers State governor insisted he has never engaged in election rigging, boldly daring any politician, living or dead, to prove otherwise.

Amaechi claimed he repeatedly turned down offers to join the All Progressives Congress (APC) election planning committees because he “knows what they discuss” behind closed doors.

He further alleged that election malpractice often involves state governors and the diversion of public funds from government agencies — a system he says he will expose if he secures the ADC nomination.

“I will never participate in any rigging whatsoever. My mission is to stop it,” he vowed.

In a stunning admission, Amaechi acknowledged that Labour Party candidate Peter Obi actually won in Rivers State during the 2023 presidential election, but said, “unfortunately, the result that came out was different. How it happened, I have no idea.”

With his bombshell revelations and open challenge to Tinubu, Amaechi has set the political stage for what could be one of the most explosive presidential races in Nigeria’s history.
