Oyetola reaffirms commitment to strengthen ties among arms of Government

Osun State Governor, Adegboyega Oyetola, on Thursday, inaugurated chairman and members of Osun House of Assembly Service Commission.

He reiterated his Administration’s commitment to strengthening the existing bond of unity, love and togetherness between the three arms of government in the State.

Inaugurating the board members at the Local Government Service Commission, Government Secretariat, Abere, Osogbo, Governor Oyetola, said the appointment of new members to man the Commission, was aimed to further entrench the ties between the executive and legislative arms of government in the State.

The Governor noted that the executive under his watch, had enjoyed unparallel cooperation with the other two arms of government in the State, with each working dutifully to fulfill its constitutional mandates without undue interference.

According to him, the result of this is that government is able to offer exceptional service delivery to the  people without undue distraction.

He said: “In the House of Assembly, we have found a worthy ally that is aptly supportive of our Administration’s commitment to building a robust economy that is alive to improving the quality of lives of our teeming citizens and sustainable development.

“We are, therefore, expectant that with your appointment and working with the leadership and members of the House, you shall further strengthen institutional structures of the Assembly and make them fully supportive of the onerous legislative functions of our distinguished legislators.

“I have no doubt whatsoever that you will succeed in this endeavour and make the Osun State House of Assembly a model of excellence.”

The Governor tasked the newly inaugurated board members to discharge their duties with the fear of God, integrity and high sense of diligence as the State is expectant of much coming from them.

Speaking on behalf of other members, the Chairman of the Board, Hon. Abiodun Awolola, promised that they would serve the State to the best of their abilities and wisdom.

“It is a privilege to be appointed and given the opportunity to serve at this capacity. We thank Mr Governor for the confidence reposed in us to serve the State. We equally thank Mr Speaker for giving us room to work together as members of the State House of Assembly Service Commission.

“We are giving you the assurance that we will not let you down and we are ready to bring our experiences to bear to move the State forward in general and the House of Assembly in particular. We will continue to align with your policies and programmes designed to uplift the State and bring democratic dividends to the people of Osun.

“We are resolute to continue to support your Adminstration to actualise its dreams. We have the assurance that we will not have the difficulties in carrying out the assignment because we are pleased in your Adminstrative prowess, as a workers-friendly Governor”, he added.

OYEBANJI MOURNS DEATH OF APC CHIEFTAIN, SENATOR ADENIYI

Ekiti State Governor, Mr Biodun Oyebanji has mourned the death of a renowned lawyer and frontline leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Senator Anthony Ademiyiwa Adeniyi (SAN).

 

The late Senator Adeniyi, who represented Ekiti South Senatorial District in the Senate between 2011 and 2015, passed on Wednesday. He was aged 75 years.

 

Governor Oyebanji, in a statement by his Special Adviser on Media, Mr Yinka Oyebode, described the death of the late Senator as a huge a loss to Ekiti State, and Nigeria as a whole, as well as the legal profession and the APC family.

 

According to the Governor, the story of the restoration of the mandate of the progressives in Ekiti State, which culminated in the swearing-in of former Governor Kayode Fayemi in 2010 would not be complete without a generous mention of the legal expertise of the late Senator Adeniyi.

 

Governor Oyebanji said the late senior lawyer gave a vibrant and result-oriented representation to the people of Ekiti South Senatorial District during his tenure as a Senator in which he championed issues relating to constitutional reforms, electoral reforms, independence of the judiciary, better services by telecoms service providers and attraction of investment into the nation’s economy.

 

Describing the late Senator Adeniyi as a consummate Bar leader, the Governor hailed the deceased for being a faithful officer in the temple of Justice with roles as Chairman of the Akure Branch of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) between 1990 and 1992 and a National Executive Committee member of the association for many years.

 

He also hailed the tenure of the late Senator Adeniyi as the Chairman of the Board of the defunct Omega Bank during which the bank grew in capital base, expansion and corporate services to the banking public in Nigeria.

 

The Governor said the Ikere Ekiti-born legal luminary will be remembered for the worthy legacies he left behind and his selfless service for a greater Ekiti and a more prosperous Nigeria during his national service.

 

“The death of Senator Adeniyi is a huge loss to Ekiti and Nigeria as a whole. We lost a decent politician, a distinguished senior advocate of Nigeria and an illustrious son of the Land of Honour.

 

“While we pray that the Lord grant him eternal rest, I encourage his children and members of his family to be comforted with the fact, the late Adeniyi lived a fulfilled life of service and leafy behind a good name and legacies that outlive him. May God grant him eternal rest”, the Governor added.

Ado West LCDA Chairman Congratulates Oyebanji on Re-election Victory

The Chairman of Ado West Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Hon. Adebolu Aladesanmi, has congratulated Ekiti State Governor, Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji, on his victory in the recently concluded governorship election.

 

In a congratulatory message, Aladesanmi described the governor’s re-election as a clear demonstration of the confidence and trust the people of Ekiti State have in his leadership, vision, and commitment to the development of the state.

 

The council chairman noted that Governor Oyebanji’s first term in office had been marked by significant achievements across critical sectors, including infrastructure, education, healthcare, and economic development, adding that the electoral victory was a reward for his administration’s people-oriented policies and impactful governance.

 

According to him, the governor’s second-term mandate presents another opportunity to consolidate on the gains already recorded and further accelerate the pace of development across the state.

Osun Inaugurates Commission of Inquiry to Probe Security Disturbances

The Osun State Government has inaugurated a Standing Commission of Inquiry to investigate recent security disturbances, loss of lives, and destruction of property recorded in parts of the state.

 

 

 

The move follows a series of violent incidents and threats to public peace in some communities, which have generated concern among residents and stakeholders.

 

 

 

Speaking during the inauguration ceremony, Governor Ademola Adeleke charged the commission to thoroughly examine both the immediate and underlying causes of the disturbances and identify individuals, groups, or institutional lapses that may have contributed to the security challenges.

 

 

 

Represented by his deputy, Prince Kola Adewusi, the governor also directed the panel to recommend practical measures that would strengthen security, foster social cohesion, and promote peaceful coexistence among communities across the state.

 

 

 

Governor Adeleke stressed the importance of the commission’s assignment, noting that its findings would help the government address the root causes of insecurity and prevent future occurrences.

 

 

 

In his remarks, the Chairman of the Commission, Justice Moshood Adeigbe, assured the government and the people of Osun State that the panel would discharge its responsibilities with fairness, transparency, and strict adherence to the law.

 

 

Justice Adeigbe stated that the commission would be guided solely by evidence in carrying out its assignment and would make recommendations aimed at restoring harmony, enhancing public confidence, and preventing future breakdowns of law and order in the state.
